Queens’ Bob Harris Looks For Win Over Dunfermline

BOB Harris is looking for Queens to end a dismal record against Dunfermline tomorrow.

The Pars have been a real bogey team for Queens at home in the past.

Harris hadn’t even been born the last time the Doonhamers defeated them at Palmerston, back in 1986.

But the Queens full back sees this weekend’s encounter as a great chance to put that right.

He told the Standard: “It’s obviously been a long time, so that’s something we’ve got to put to bed.

“We’ve been doing really well this season, and we’ll be looking for the three points on Saturday.”

Harris is the only familiar face left from last season’s defence, which was one of the leakiest in the first division.

But these are changed days for Harris and his back line. If Queens keep another shut out tomorrow, it will be their fifth straight league shut-out and a record-breaking feat for the team.

But Harris is adamant the players won’t be thinking about that tomorrow.

He said: “Obviously we’re on a great run of clean sheets, and we’ll be looking for that to continue on Saturday. The lads won’t really be thinking about club records, they’ll be focusing on getting the win.

“If we can keep the ball out of the net, that obviously gives us a great chance to win the game. We’ve been able to cut out conceding the cheap goals we lost last season, and if we can keep doing that we’ll keep getting the right results.”

Dunfermline haven’t lost in the league since the Doonhamers thumped them 4-1 at East End Park last month.

And Harris is confident Queens can end their streak. “It’s really got the makings of a great game,” he said.

“Dunfermline are on a seven-game unbeaten run, and are really in form right now. We’ve kept four straight clean sheets, so we’re doing really well now too.

“We were the last team to beat them, but this is a completely different game and that won’t have any bearing on the match.

“We’ll definitely be going for the three points.”

Queens share the top spot with title rivals Dundee, with only goals nosing the Doonhamers ahead.

But with the Dens Park outfit playing in the Alba Cup final, it’s a chance for Queens to go top.

Harris said: “It’s a real incentive for us. With them playing in the cup on Sunday, we know we’ll pull away from them if we win.

“I’m sure the manager will remind us of that before the game, and hopefully we can do the business.”

Third place Ross County are also not in action in the league tomorrow.

And with the Highlanders and Dundee doing battle next weekend, Queens could open up a real gap if they can keep winning.
