THE Dumfriesshire Bowling Association County Finals were at Marchmount Bowling Club, sponsored by Annandale Insurance, on Saturday.
Results were as follows:
Mixed pairs for the Nithsdale District Cup: Dumfries (Martyn Rice, Jan Oliver) beat Eastriggs (David Burton, Helen Leigh).
Gents Pairs for the Coronation Cup: Annan (David Linton, Eddy Murray) 14 Lochmaben (Roger McGhie, Bruce Robison) 13.
Senior Pairs for the Senior Cup: Dumfries (Billy Moffat, Andy Carmichael) 16 Gretna (Gordon Boyd, Gordon Richardson) 11.
Gents Singles for the McGhie Dairies Trophy: Marchmount (Colin Peacock) 21 Crichton (Colin Ramage) 8.
Junior Singles for the Sid Robbins Cup: Lockerbie (Kenny Carruthers) 21 Annan (Brady Graham) 14.
Fours for the Isobel and Jim White Cup: Annan (David Linton, Eddy Murray, Stuart Begg, Nicky Nicholson) 14 Lockerbie (Willie Linton, Dougie White, Jim Lauder, and Maxwell Nutt) 16.
Triples for the Border Cars Mazda Cup: Thornhill (Bob Steele, Bob McQuat, Gordon Johnstone) 17 Dumfries (Owen Elliot, Greg Rice, Ronnie Dougan) 12.
The DBA President Sandy Duff presented the trophies and prizes and thanks were expressed to Marchmount Bowling Club for their hospitality and especially to the ladies for an excellent buffet.
In addition, the president Sandy Duff presented a cheque to John Jarvie who had run five half marathons on behalf of the Sick Kids Foundations. John has played for the Dumfriesshire County Team on a numerous occasions.
The DBA is grateful to Colin McBurnie of Colin Carpets, Annan Road, Dumfries, for the use of his mini bus for the DBA Under 25s Top Nine side competition on Sunday, August 28, to travel to Sighthill, Edinburgh.
DBA Top Five singles: The Top Five Singles semi finals were held on Monday,
August 15 when the results were as follows: Dumfries 2 Marchmount 3; Kirkconnel 3 Lockerbie 2. The final will be held between Marchmount v Kirkconnel on Monday, August 22 at Annan Bowling Club at 6.30pm.
SSWBA County finals
The South of Scotland Women's Bowling Association held their County Finals at Maxwelltown Bowling Club on Monday. Results were as follows:
Singles: Lochmaben (Helen Bell) 21 Annan (Sheena Kirkpatrick) 12.
Junior Singles: Gatehouse (Michelle Cochrane) 21 Marchmount (Kirsty Haining) 11.
Pairs: Maxwelltown (Isobel Moffat, Sheena Gibson) 19 Kirkcudbright (June Dinnell, Jean McCartney) 8.
Triples: Dalbeattie (Maureen Feenan, Jean Richardson, Margaret Little) 17 Dumfries (Anne Motroni, Maureen Love June Austin) 9.
Fours: Dumfries (Jean Reid, Margaret McLaren, Anne Motroni, May Cannan) 19 Kirkcudbright (June Dinnell, Betty Whitelaw, P McKenna, Jean McCartney) 15.

Open club tournaments
Annan: A floodlit competition for the Alex Thomson and Liz Johnstone Memorial Trophy was won by Kevin Murray (E/riggs) and Christine Creighton (Annan) and the runners up were Jim Moonie and Jack Harkness (Annan). The semi finalists were Alan Boyd and Brady Graham (Annan) and Lee Nisbett (E/riggs) and Margaret Irvine (Annan). The presentations were made by Davina Thomson and Kian Creighton.
Canonbie: Mixed American Triples results: 1 Fred Hollis, John Cairnie, Sheila Woodhouse (Annan); 2 Gordon and Margaret Irving, George McCulloch (Annan); 3 Kenny Richardson, Irene Carey, Raymond Hetherington (E/riggs); 4 Marie Thorburn, Jim Kennedy, Alister Service (Annan). Match secretary Frank Wilson presented the prizes.

Annan: Pairs for the S Swalwell Cup sponsored by Christine Povall was won by Margaret Irvine, Sheila Woodhouse (Annan) and the runners up were Elsie Copeland (L/bie), Morag Rae (B/grove). The semi finalists were Phyllis Nicholson, Carmel Service (Annan) and Christine Povall, Christine Creighton (Annan). The presentations were made by Christine Povall, the sponsor.
