DBA RESERVE LEAGUE
The final round of the Dumfriesshire Bowling Association Reserve League, sponsored by Annandale Insurance, was held on Thursday July 7. The result was:
Maxwelltown 10 Marchmount 2: with Maxwelltown winning by 56 pts.
The presentation of the trophy will be held on finals day at Marchmount, Saturday, August 13.
DBA LEAGUE FINAL
The Dumfriesshire Bowling Association League final for the Dumfries & Galloway Standard Rosebowl was held on Thursday, July 7 at Lockerbie Bowling Club between North League Kirkconnel v South League Dumfries.
In a close encounter, Dumfries emerged the winners; the teams were tied on four points but Dumfries won on shots; 71 to 62.

Sandy Duff, the DBA president called upon Doug Boyer, the DBA competition secretary, to present the Rosebowl to Norrie Hannah, the team captain for Dumfries.
Sandy thanked Lockerbie for their hospitality to the ladies.
DBA TOP TEN
The Dumfriesshire Bowling Association held the semi finals of the Top Ten on Monday, July 11, with the following results: Dumfries 4pts (53) Marchmount 4pts (66); Maxwelltown 4pts (52) Annan 4pts (63).
The final will be held between Marchmount and Annan on Monday, July 18, at Gretna Bowling Club.
DBA COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIPS
The Dumfriesshire Bowling Association Junior Singles Championships for the Sid Robbins Cup, sponsored by Annandale Insurance, is being held at Lockerbie Bowling Club on Saturday, July 16. The results will be reported in the next issue of the Standard.
OPEN CLUB TOURNAMENT
Kirkcudbright: Mixed Pairs for the Betty Fisher Memorial Trophy, sponsored by Paul McColm, Disco.
Laurie Little (A/cairn), Helen Little (Kbt) were the winners, runners up Scott & Trudy McCubbin (A/cairn). The semi-finalists were Steven Lunn, Jean McCartney (Kbt) and Tom Rogers, Mary Lockhart (G/Hse). The presentations were made by Jean McCartney, the daughter of the late Betty Fisher.
Sanquhar: Mixed Pairs for the Eroga Shield: The winners were Declan Farrow, Bunty Henderson (Sanq) and the runners up Simpson Moore, Rachael Houston (Sanq). The semi-finalists were Gordon & Liz Johnstone (T/hill) and Barbara & Billy Watson (Sanq). The president Simpson Moore presented the prizes.
Gretna: Gents Triples (ko) sponsored by the Peacock family for the Matthew White Trophy. The winners were Robert McNeil (E/riggs), Roger Murray (Annan), Willie Mair (N/Abbey) the runners up Sam Anderson, Stephen Graham, Stuart Robson (L/bie). The presentation was made by Kevin Peacock on behalf of the family.
Marchmount: Gents Pairs for the Solly Cup sponsored by Wallace’s Express. The winners were Scott Davies, Tom Maxwell (CD) and the runners up were Craig Poland, Craig Coltart (M/mount). The semi-finalists were Lawrence Moffat, Martyn Rice (Dfs) and Bob Gilchrist, Ronnie McEwan (Max).
The president Irving Laurie presented the prizes.
Crichton: Mixed Pairs for the Betts Trophy. Alex & Peggy Telfer (CR) were the winners and Margaret McLaren, Davy Cannan (Dfs) were the runners up. Semi-finalists were Sylvia Hayes (N/Abbey), Steven Little (Max) and Eric Hodgson, Isobel Brown (Max). The president George McGill presented the prizes.
St Mungo: Mixed American Triples. First: Hugh Waugh, Hugh Weir, Janet Campbell (H/hall). Second: David & Doreen Cartner, Billy McGarva (E/fld). Third: Billy & Anne Gordon, Dennis Bell (L/maben). Fourth: Fred & Bert Hollies, Jack Harkness (Annan). Robert Jardine, a committee member, presented the prizes.
Annan: Mixed Reversed Pairs for the Murdoch Trophy, sponsored by the Murdoch Family.
All the prize winners were from the home club. Winners were John Cairnie and Carmel Service with runners up Ian Blenkinsop and Sheena Kirkpatrick. Semi-finalists were Christine Creighton, Ian Donaldson and Maureen Woodhouse, Geof Murray. The presentation was made by Jack Murdoch on behalf of the family.
Beechgrove: Open American Pairs (Under & Over 16 years) for the Sport & Leisure Trust Cup. The winners were Alec Barr, Jennine Gillick (Law BC) and the runners up Zandra Gillick, Kyle Bulloch (Law BC). The semi-finalists were Sam Anderson, Stephen Graham (L/bie) and Craig Muir, Gary Nicholls (Law BC)
Ladies:
Canonbie: Pairs cancelled for the lack of entries.
Kirkcudbright: Pairs for the Belle McLachlan Rosebowl, sponsored by Hall's Butcher and Paul Jones Baker. The winners were Maureen Feenan, Kathleen Harper (Dalbt) and the runners up were Rosemary Little (Dalbt), Helen Little (Kbt). The semi-finalists were Anne Motroni, June Austin (Dfs) and Sheila Ferguson, Mary Jarvie (C/town). The presentations were made by the president Christine Docherty.
CHARITIES
The first round of the charities for the Richardson Cup was held on Wednesday, July 6, on various greens.
The final stage of the ladies charities for the Richardson Cup is to be held at Maxwelltown Bowling Club and the results will be reported in the next issue of the Standard.
SSWBA
The South of Scotland Women's Association played their second Inter Association match against East Renfrewshire at Linthouse, Glasgow, on Friday, July 8.
There was mixed weather being mostly dry but rather cold towards the end. Luckily, the rumbles of thunder and flashes of lightning came to nothing.
The result was a good win for the South of Scotland Ladies by 10pts (125 shots) to Renfrewshire’s 2pts (87shots)
