DUMFRIESSHIRE County team were at home against Lanarkshire (S) on Saturday, June 18, with the game at Gretna.
Dumfriesshire lost out to a very strong side but only by 104 shots to Lanarkshire (S) 127 shots.
Dumfriesshire were always in arrears by five shots at the fifth end 27-32 going further behind at the tenth end by 24 shots 72-48.
There was little respite and by the 15th end they were still down at 96-74.
The home side in the last six ends tallied a further 30 shots but the visitors kept the pressure on with another 31 shots to win the match by 23 shots.

The Dumfriesshire Bowling Association the sixth round of the Senior League for the Andrew Logan Cup was held on Wednesday, June 15, with following results:
North Section: Sanquhar 7 Thornhill 0; Sanquhar are winners of the North section.
Central Section: Annan 0 Lockerbie 7; Dumfries 7 Lochmaben 0; Gretna 5 Marchmount 2; Crichton 2 Maxwelltown 5.
South Section: Eastriggs 0 Annan 7; Canonbie 6 Crichton 1; Eaglesfield 5 Dumfries 2; St Mungo 2 Gretna 5.

The Dumfriesshire Bowling Association third round of the rinks North League sponsored by Annandale Insurance, were held on Thursday, June 16.

DBA Rinks South
The Dumfriesshire Bowling Association third round of the rinks South League held on Thursday, June 16.

DBA Top Ten
The Dumfriesshire Bowling Association held their Top Ten bye tie on Monday, June 20, with the following result: Eaglesfield 0, Gretna 8. Gretna is at home in the first round against Dumfries on Monday, June 27.
DBA County Pairs
The Dumfriesshire Bowling Association held their County Pairs at Dumfries Bowling Club on Sunday, June 19.
The results were as follows: First round: Maxwelltown lost to Dumfries; Sanquhar lost to Beechgrove; Gretna lost to Annan; Marchmount beat Lockerbie.
Second round: Dumfries beat Beechgrove; Annan beat Marchmount; Lochmaben beat Thornhill; Eastriggs lost to Crichton; Semi finals Dumfries lost to Annan; Lochmaben beat Crichton.
The finalists are: Annan (Eddy Murray, David Linton) v Lochmaben (Roger McGhie, Bruce Robison) goes forward into the finals at Marchmount Bowling Club on Saturday, August 13.
Bowls Scotland
The Bowls Scotland Championships semi-finals for the Mix Pairs were held on Wednesday, June 15, with the following results): Marchmount (Colin & Kate Peacock) 20, Annan (Ian Donaldson, Christine Povall) 11; Castle Douglas (Scott Davies, Janice Maxwell 25, Sanquhar (Jock and Yvonne Hiddleston) 6.
The Bowls Scotland Championships final for district championships were held on Monday, June 20, at Maxwelltown Bowling Club. The results were as following results:

The Two Bowl Triples semi final is to be played by Tuesday, June 21, between Kirkcudbright v Maxwelltown.
The winners will meet Dumfries in the final which is to be played by Tuesday, July 12.

SSWBA – League
The South of Scotland Women's Bowling Association completes their league with the following results:
The winners are: Section A: Lochmaben 26pts; Section B: Maxwelltown 26pts: Section C: Marchmount 19pts;
Section: D Castle Douglas 24pts.
The finals will take place at Lockerbie Bowling Club on Monday, June 27.
SSWBA – County Triples
The South of Scotland Women's Bowling Association is holding their County Triples over two days on Tuesday, June 21 and Tuesday, June 28 at Thornhill Bowling Club. The results will be reported in a later issue of the Standard.
Stewartry Top Ten
The Stewartry Bowling Association held their final of the Top Ten, sponsored by The Trophy Shop, Dumfries, at Spalding Bowling Club on Friday, June 17, which Castle Douglas were the winners by 6pts to Dalbeattie 2pts.
