Lockerbie curler Hannah Fleming retained her Scottish Women’s Junior title in impressive style at the weekend.
The student from Hightae went through the round robin section of the competition, staged at Curl Aberdeen, unbeaten and then won the 1st/2nd page play-off against Tasha Aitken from Murrayfield to take her place in the final.
Aitken then took on Jennifer Martin from the Galleon in the semi-final and won through to face the Fleming rink again in the final.
And Hannah’s blistering form continued in the final. She scored a big four at end five and another four in end seven which finished the game as a contest.
Hannah, who has Stranraer’s Abi Brown in her team along with Lauren Gray and Jennifer Dodds, will now represent Scotland in Sochi in Russia starting on February 28.
Meanwhile in the junior boys section, Dumfries curler Grant Hardie, was just pipped in the final by defending champion Kyle Smith from Perth.
Like Hannah, Grant went through the round robin section undefeated and then convincingly defeated Smith 8-2 in the 1st/2nd page play-off. However, Smith made it through the semi-final to take on Hardie again in the final.
In a very close game, Hardie was lying well in the last end, but a great last shot from title-holder Smith saw him win the championship again.
