Lockerbie’s Nick De Luca is out of the Six Nations with an eye injury.
The 28-year-old will not play for Scotland in the tournament after an op to fix a fractured eye socket suffered in training last month.
Docs at club side Edinburgh had hoped the injury might heal in time, but decided this week there had not been enough improvement.
De Luca – who has 38 caps – will be missed by new Scotland boss Scott Johnson who is already without a number of experienced campaigners.
Meanwhile, former Annan player Alex Dunbar is to join up with the 35-man squad for the championships, which start on February 2.
