Energy review 'must bring change'

A review of the regime for electricity transmission charges must bring about "fundamental and lasting change", First Minister Alex Salmond has said.

Mr Salmond spoke out after the energy watchdog Ofgem announced a comprehensive review was to be carried out of the system for charging power companies for using the high voltage electricity network.

At the moment, firms face higher charges to plug in to the national grid from remote parts of Scotland than they do in the south of England.
