People’s Project launches lottery
THE PEOPLE’S Project has stepped up a gear in what could be a major money spinner for Dumfries.
Mark Jardine, the businessman behind the Standard-backed regeneration drive, has launched a lottery which could see players win up to £25,000.
The weekly tickets are a pound each with half of that going into the project fund for Dumfries town centre.
Mr Jardine said: “This could really make a difference for Dumfries and it is a win-win situation.
“People write into the Standard asking for something to be done about the town and now is their chance to get some money together and get something done.
“Once we get a sum of money together that could be match funded by lottery or European funding and we can actually get something done for regeneration.
“We are unique in that this is the first lottery of its kinds in the country so people need to give it their support.”
The lottery is run by Unity, the nations charity lottery and ties in with other project across the country.
The other 50p from the ticket goes to Unity for running costs but all other cash raised from the People’s Project will stay in Dumfries.
A website has also be launched for the People’s Project by local firm AML Technology.
It’s on www.peoplesproject.co.uk where more information can be found on how to buy tickets and there is also a dedicated phone line on 0870 050 9240.
