Dumfries public transport projects get green light for funding

Never has there been a better time to get on your bike or use public transport.

The cost of fuel has encouraged many people to look at their travel options in recent months.

Public transport is not suitable for everyone in a rural community but there is good news on the horizon for Dumfries.

The town is one of seven in Scotland chosen for funding for green travel projects.

And that brings with it £5.4million for schemes to support environmentally friendly transport initiatives. We look forward with interest to seeing the range of projects planned.

Support for the People’s Project continues to grow.

And now Standard readers can get involved in the scheme through a poll on our new website.

Get in touch and let us know what you would like to see happening to regenerate Dumfries.

We will pass your opinions on to Mark Jardine, the man who came up with the project idea.
