Cards competition kicks off

A RECORD 41 schools are joining in a competition to design a Christmas card for Dumfries and Galloway MP Russell Brown.

And the competition has been kicked off by Dumfries’ Scottish Cup Final heroes Queen of the South.

Each year Russell sends out over 1,000 Christmas cards and he wants primary school pupils to come up with the winning design for this festive greetings card.

The winner is in for a treat as Queens have donated a club jersey signed by the players as one of the prizes.

He said: “I’ve now been running my Christmas Card competition for more than 10 years, and each year it seems to be more popular than the last.

“This year I’m delighted that a record number of schools are taking part.

“But the competition couldn’t be the success it is without the support of local businesses and organisations who provide the prizes.

“Queen of the South have always keenly taken part, and every year the signed ball or shirt they donate seems to be the most coveted prize!!”
