Man attacked in Kelloholm street

A MAN was rushed to hospital after being attacked during a night out on Saturday.

The 35-year-old victim was walking along Libry Street in Kelloholm at around 1.30am when a fight broke out.

He was taken to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary suffering from head injuries and police are treating the incident as a serious assault.

A police spokesperson said: “Police received a call to say there was a disturbance taking place and damage being caused to property in the area. Also around that time, as a result of an assault, a 35-year-old man received serious injuries to his head and face. We believe he was in a group with three others when a fight broke out with another group of young men.”

Police want to trace a number of people, male and female, who were in the area at that time.

The spokesman added: “A number of people were involved in this incident and we are appealing for witnesses to come forward. Police are treating this incident as serious and are keen for members of the public to help us with enquiries.”
