A FATHER-OF-TWO was killed after a road accident on Saturday night.
Jai Jolly had been driving his Mitsubishi Evo along the A75 when it crashed off the road after the junction with the A714 near Newton Stewart and collided with a sign.
The 27-year-old of Calgrow Farm in Newton Stewart died of his injuries.
No one else was involved in the crash and Mr Jolly was in the car alone.
Emotional tributes to the Celtic football fan have been left at the scene.
Police are now trying to piece together the details of the incident which happened around 11.50pm.
A spokesman said: “We would like to hear from anyone who may have seen the car in the area before the accident.
“The car has somehow crossed the carriageway and collided with a large sign.
“It was heavy rain at the time.
“We are desperately appealing for witnesses to come forward to try and find out exactly what happened.”
The road was closed for several hours while crash investigators carried out an examination of the scene.
