Lands End to John O’Groats cycle challenge

A LOCKERBIE man is saddling up for a 1,000 mile charity challenge.

Dave Tollick, aged 50, is cycling from Lands End to John O’Groats in a bid to raise hundreds of pounds for Oxfam.

The dad of four is no stranger to cycling.

In fact, he cycles 28 miles every day no matter the weather.

He told the Standard: “I cycle from Lockerbie to Dumfries every day for work. It takes me around an hour and ten minutes but I enjoy it.

“You will still see me out cycling no matter the weather.”

Dave will tackle the cycle, which takes place from May 21 to June 6, with two female friends from Glasgow.

Together they will cycle around 65 miles a day with all proceeds going to Oxfam, who help fight poverty across the world.

He said: “I have been a lifelong supporter of Oxfam and feel very strongly about the fantastic work they carry out all over the world. I do not have a target in mind but I am hoping to raise as much money as possible for a great cause.”
