Drumlanrig Castle up for award

DRUMLANRIG Castle has been nominated for a coveted national award.

The castle and country estate, owned by the Duke of Buccleuch, has been shortlisted as a finalist for this year’s VisitScotland Scottish Thistle Awards.

The castle is one of three finalists in the Heritage Experience category, which is awarded to businesses that have excelled in providing Scotland’s visitors with the opportunity to enjoy and fully appreciate aspects of Scotland’s vast range of rich heritage experiences.

It is the first time Drumlanrig Castle has been nominated for a Scottish Thistle Award.

Mark Coombs, Estate Manager at Drumlanrig Castle and Country Estate, said: “We are absolutely delighted to be a finalist in the Heritage Experience category, it is a wonderful endorsement for the product we have here at Drumlanrig.

“The team works extremely hard to exceed customer expectations and to ensure that the heritage experience is conveyed in an interesting and engaging manner. To be acknowledged as one of the best heritage experiences in Scotland demonstrates that our efforts have not gone unnoticed.”

The winners of the awards will be announced in Edinburgh on October 29.
