A NEW group set up in the wake of flooding in Moffat will hold its inaugural meeting on August 12.
The group was formed to look into a series of issues raised at a recent Dumfries and Galloway’s Recovery and Resilience Group meeting in the town.
Led by Paul Hendy from the Scottish Flood Forum, who, in 2005, directed Carlisle flood recovery programme that meeting was attended by 40 people keen to share their experiences in the November floods and other issues.
The new group will be chaired by a member of the Moffat and District Community Council, Bob Osprey, who says he is keen to hear what people have to say about Moffat’s flooding issues.
He says they could look into operating a warning system among themselves or by looking into the possibility of flood wardens.
The group could meet on the second Thursday of each month depending on the support next month.
