THE Queen of the South anthem that bellows out as the Doonhamers charge onto the pitch at Palmerston is being re-recorded.
The four friends who first recorded the track back in the mid 90s have come together to update the famous tune.
And this time theyre adding backing vocals from the Doonhamer faithful.
Lead vocalist Chris Belford said: Were very proud that the song has been adopted by the club, but Ive never been happy with the sound quality.
It sounds quite tinny.
Obviously recording quality has really come on since it was first done, so its good weve got round to it.
Ive been meaning for us to re-record it for a while now and Im glad were getting some fans involved this time.
The Dumfries men behind the song were never in a band together and didnt even give the track a name.
But around the stands and terracing at Palmerston, it has become known as The Only Song In The Bible.
The friends came up with the song while playing together back in the mid 90s.
But it wasnt until years later that they finally recorded it and showed it to Queens.
We were just playing around with the instruments and Queen of the South came into my head, Chris said.
We left it for ages after we came up with it, but told the chairman, who was Norman Blount at the time, about the song.
He told us he really liked it and we recorded it.
The song became a hit with the Queens fans and has been a memorable tune for the four friends.
Chris said: It can be very emotional.
The best time I ever heard it was when we won the second division. That was a great moment.
It was bizarre at the cup final.
There were people in the crowd at Hampden singing the song too!
The track will be in the club shop in the run-up to Christmas with the cash going back into the club.
As well as the famous entry music, there will be a B-Side track You Gotta Keep Dreamin about always wanting to play for your team.
Queens fans joined the musicians at Palmerston last night to record the backing vocals and involve them in the recording of new songs.
The four musicians are Chris Belford, David Bass, Sandy Sweetman and Fraser Graham.
