Date set for murder trial

A FORMER Annan man has appeared in court accused of killing a woman and setting fire to her flat.

Neil McMillan, 42, was charged with murder of Andrea Waddell and arson with intent to endanger her life.

Twenty-nine-year-old Ms Waddell was found dead in her burnt out flat in Brighton on Thursday, October 16.

McMillan, who was originally from the Eastriggs area and works as a satellite installer, made a brief appearance on Friday at Lewes Crown Court.

No application for bail was made and he was remanded in custody.

A further hearing will take place on January 8 when a plea is expected to be made.

A provisional date for a three-week trial has been fixed for May 10.
