A DRIVER who’s load slipped and caught a woman pedestrian, has been fined £300 at Dumfries Sheriff Court.

Michael Eagers, 43, of Thorburn Crescent, Annan, was heading for Kelloholm when the accident happened in Drumlanrig Street in Thornhill.

And the court heard he wasn’t aware of the accident involving the woman until alerted by the flashing lights of a car behind.

In the dock, Eagers admitted using a lorry last December on the A76 road with the load overhanging by 1.5 feet and colliding with the pedestrian.

The injured woman was taken to Dumfries Infirmary with two fractures and bruising.
