Organisations benefit from gala cash

THREE organisations are set to benefit from money raised at a local gala day.

Kirkmahoe Community Council have decided to share out a pot of cash between Duncow School PTA, Kirkmahoe Parish Church and the community council for providing volunteers and other help at Kirkton Gala.

Windfarm company Airtricity Development Scotland committed an annual fund of £73,600 to 25 community groups operating near the Dalswinton windfarm, and Jean Muir, Chairwoman of Kirkmahoe Community Council said the money was being put to good use in her community by covering the costs of activities such as the newsletters and senior citizens’ social evenings.
