THE Reverend Ruth Harvey was ordained by the Church of Scotland's Presbytery of Annandale and Eskdale in Lochmaben Parish Church.
Ruth is one of two congregational facilitators in the Presbytery and she will continue in this role along with her colleague the Reverend Pauline Steenbergen with whom she studied theology in Edinburgh 15 years ago and who paid tribute to her at the social gathering which followed the service.
The ordination was led by the Parish Minister, the Reverend Jack M Brown, who is also Moderator of Presbytery. This service was also his Moderatorial Songs of Praise Event where many of his Presbytery colleagues and congregations were present.
It was an extra special day for Ruth as her father, the Reverend John Harvey, preached at the ordination service and earlier in the day in Edinburgh, all the family had celebrated the 40th anniversary of the ordination of her uncle, Colin. During the evening an offering was taken for Presbytery's current Malawian Orphan Housing Appeal and raised £970 which brings the appeal fund to £6,856.
