LOCAL teams are being offered a free trial match as an incentive to join the six-a-side football league which runs at the DG One complex.
The community league runs every Tuesday evenings between 7pm and 10pm on the 3G Astroturf pitch with 12 teams taking part. There are places available for new teams to join and the organisers have decided to offer free trial matches to any teams who want to come along and give it a go to see if they enjoy playing before signing up to participate regularly in the league.
Teams play a half hour game each week in a league system with promotion and relegation at the end of the season. There is no registration or affiliation fee and match costs are just £3 per player per week.
League winners and runners-up receive top quality individual trophies whilst there is also a top goalscorer competition and many other prizes throughtout the season.
The league is fully affiliated to the FA with all matches being officiated by qualified FA referees. All equipment will be provided so that it is simply a case of turning up and enjoying the fun. Anyone over the age of 15 can enter and players do not need to be an organised or established team. It could be a group of friends, work colleagues or mates from the pub.
Anyone interested in taking part can either contact the league organisers on 0870 3300 888 for more information or teams can register online at www.soccersixes.net. Spaces are limited and will be given on a first come first served basis.
