Youth faces 58 charges in court

A TEENAGE youth has made a brief appearance in court facing a total of 58 charges, mainly involving vandalism.

Seventeen-year-old Duncan Hughes, of Mainholm Cottages, Lockerbie, appeared in private before Sheriff George Jamieson.

He was on a petition alleging that during a nine-day period in November, along with another youth, he smashed windows of cars and houses in Annan, threw paint balls at cars, spray painted slogans on cars and the walls of houses and shops in the town, stole spray paint and set fire to a wheelie bin and re-cycling bin.

Depute procurator fiscal Alison Herald said no plea or declaration was made and the case was continued.
