COUSINS Rachael Boa and Callum Saunders have been given the honour of becoming Moffat’s Shepherd and Lass for this summer’s gala celebrations.
The pair will be installed at a special event in the Moffat Town Hall on July 17 when they will wear the famous tartan outfit representing the town’s sheep farming heritage.
The Shepherd’s Lass from 50 years ago, Helen Baker, will perform the honours.
Callum, aged 18, who is working in one of Moffat’s cafés until he heads for university this year, and 19-year-old Rachael, who works in the Moffat Wollen Mill, are following in the footsteps of family members who have held the post of principals over the years.
Moffat’s Gala Day will be held on July 18 following a week of activities.
Rachael and Callum will lead the Kirking service and final parade to St Andrew's Church, which ends the festivities on Sunday, July 19.
