Jan 22 2010 Dumfries Standard Friday
THE annual Parent Council Burns Supper is taking place in the Assembly Hall at Wallace Hall Academy tonight (Friday) at 7.30pm.
This is the final event in the old school buildings prior to the move to the new school. The event is being chaired by Wallace Hall pupil, Ewan McCall, who holds the accolade of being the national Young Burnsian of the Year in 2008/9. An accomplished singer and musician, Ewan is an active participant in many Burns Suppers, both local and national, and he is a highly sought-after performer on the Burns’ scene. The Immortal Memory will be given by Maureen McKerrow, proprietor of the Globe Inn and past president of Dumfries Ladies Burns Club. Ewan's father, the well-known local personality Kenny McCall, will be toasting the lasses and Jane Brown will reply. Both Jane and Maureen hold the distinction of being the only two honorary lady members of the Burns Howff Club and between them have a wealth of knowledge on the bard.
Music and recitations will be performed by some of Wallace Hall's talented pupils, including Hannah McCron, Darcy Carson, Beth Muirhead, Kaye Dalgliesh, David and Innes Kennedy and Kirsty Bryson.
This is sure to be a fantastic evening and a fitting end for the old buildings.
Tickets are priced at £12.50 and a few are still available. These can be purchased from Caroline Menzies at Wallace Hall Academy on 01848 330294.
