ON Wednesday, June 3, 146 S2 pupils from Dumfries High School and 11 staff headed to Alton Towers theme park as a reward for their hard work and commitment throughout their second year.
The party left the school at 6am and arrived in Alton Towers at around 10.30am.
The weather was not quite as good as anticipated but it did not dampen the spirits or contain the excitement of all involved.
Signs of bravery and courage were evident as many took the plunge and went on Rita, Air, Oblivion and the Nemesis.
It should be added that the youngsters held themselves together better than the staff – after the Nemesis, it was the end for depute rector, Mr Cubbon.
The group left Alton Towers at around 4.15pm and arrived back in Dumfries at 9pm.
Mrs Sloan, principal teacher pupil support and part leader, would like to thank all the pupils for their exemplary behaviour and the staff for their valuable contribution.
