MOUSWALD School has already gained two Green Eco Flags and is working hard to gain a third one in the future.
The Eco Group has recently added a raised vegetable plot to the school grounds, kindly created and donated by Mr Simon Hamilton of SPH Home and Garden Services.
On a recent trip to Garden Wise the Eco Group purchased a selection of vegetables and herbs to plant, harvest and hopefully sell as a mini enterprise.
They were also given an experiment to carry out by Mr Bertram, manager of Garden Wise, and they look forward to feeding the results back to him. They will trial a new idea of growing tomatoes upside down from a hanging pot and compare this to normal growth in a plant pot. It will be an exciting time for the green-fingered group.
The Eco Group held a special Eco Day for the pupils at school on Monday, June 8. This involved workshops hosted by guest speakers and a minibeast hunt in the school grounds.
