Brownhall kids take part in science week

PUPILS at Brownhall Primary School in Dumfries have taken part in National Science and Engineering week.

The youngsters enjoyed a fun packed week which included many activities such as making crystals and spaghetti towers.

Pupils also enjoyed taking part in the action research project being carried out by probationer teacher Jilly Hawker.

The title of the action research project is to investigate teaching and learning strategies which promote active learning in science within A Curriculum For Excellence.

The children consulted with Miss Hawker about what they wanted to find out and came up with the timetable for the week. The activities included crafty rafts, volcano eruptions, fizzics fun, a fizzics experiment and hovercraft hustle. Parents also dropped into the school to share the fantastic experience.
