Passengers of car run off following crash

WITNESSES saw up to four people run from a car after it crashed on a back road late on Saturday night.

The silver BMW was found on its roof after it collided with a wall on the B6357 road at Broats Farm, Kirkpatrick Fleming at around 11.50pm. Reports to police said the driver and two or three passengers ran off – leaving the vehicle at the scene.

Officers are now trying to trace the owner of the vehicle to check if it was stolen.

A spokesman said: “The car is registered locally and we have an owner for it.

“We have been unable to trace that owner to see if they were involved in this incident or if the car was stolen.

“Up to four people were seen running away from this car and we are looking for witnesses to come forward to help us.”
