Charlotte joins the Razzamataz Theatre School

A SUCCESSFUL performer, who has worked alongside Lionel Richie, is now turning her attention to Dumfries youngsters.

Charlotte Dixon, aged 28, will be teaching talented singers, dancers and actors at the town’s Razzamataz Theatre School.

Charlotte says she wants to dedicate her time to help young people work towards their performance dreams at the Monday night class that is held at St George’s Church Hall.

Her first international performance was with Lionel Ritchie in Amsterdam.

She’s performed with top stars including Shirley Bassey and was part of the team who danced in Beijing in 2000 for the 2008 Olympic bid.

Charlotte started off as a student herself at the Robinson Read School of Dance in Lancaster. She then went on to train at Performers College under the direction of Brian Rogers and Susan Stephens.

This further education college for performing arts gave Charlotte the solid foundation for musical theatre and teaching.

Charlotte said: “I love how Razzamataz works.

“It feels like a mini version of what I did at college. I would have loved to have done it as a kid myself.”

She added: “I have been fortunate to have worked with many celebrities such as Martine McCutcheon, Ross Kemp, Linda Lusardi and Cheryl Baker during my time performing as a dancer, singer and actor, and more recently I’ve choreographed and produced professional shows incorporating many different styles.

“My mum and I want to give the students at Razzamataz the opportunity to enjoy performing.”
